You can see how strong Lexi is through a contraction.

The Birth of Athea

Many babies were born in 2021, and Athea was the first one I got to attend. Lexi, her mom, had her at home. Every birth I attend, it's amazing to watch the support the birthing person has. Lexi was truly amazing during every contraction, that even I was in shock when I yelled head as sweet Athea began to enter the world.

I'll be honest, if it weren't for Lexi, I would not have been able to have a home birth myself.

Lexi tried to distract herself with laundry while contractions began to pick up.

The birth of Athea was actually quite fast, I arrived shortly after 1pm and she was born before 5pm.

They did not know her gender until birth, which was exciting to be there for!

When it was time, Lexi worked with her body through every contraction and their sweet baby girl made a fast entrance!

The Birth of Nova

All births hold a special place in my heart, but Lynley giving birth to Nova feels like I got to witness a niece being born. Lynley had to be induced due to high fluid levels, so a quiet induction began in the evening and Nova was born before lunch the next day.

Lynley really wanted to labor in the pool, but she quickly progressed and the pool didn't get used.

Lynley was a rockstar, not only did she deliver Nova vaginally, she did it with no pain medications! Birth with Pitocin can be similar to fast forwarding a movie and the contractions can be pretty rough since it helps the labor process.

The Birth of Charles Rowan

When the time came Crystal was amazing and rolled with the punches. Labor progressed quickly for her and then stalled around 9-9.5cm. After resting a few times and trying different things Crystal was still able to deliver him vaginally.

One of my favorite parts of this birth was dad getting to help take Charles Rowan up to mom's chest after being born.

Such a happy dad!

One of the longest births I've attended, and walking out I saw the most gorgeous sunrises!

The Birth of Irene

Well, there's not many images from this birth, because it is the birth of our third child. Our photographer missed our calls and thankfully my doula jumped in and helped take some photos I edited. I also took the postpartum images of her.

I'm still processing our birth, I wish I had images to show you of her birth, of how amazing my husband was, how our doula helped us, how EMS showed up and how the children slept in bed while Irene came flying out.

Having a home birth was amazing in the fact I didn't have to be separated from our other children. Both our boys were born in the hospital with epidurals. I still don't know how woman endure that much pain. I thought my body was going to break.
